Purpose: To coordinate donations from club members for the East Granby Food Pantry and Thanksgiving baskets and to act as a liaison between the Food Pantry and our club in order to convey requests for specific items.
The Women's Club Of East Granby has proudly contributed to the East Granby Food Pantry with food and monetary donations for many years. In keeping with tradition, we ask that every member please remember to bring in an item or two to each monthly meeting. This year we also plan to ask for non-perishable donations from the community at our fund-raising events.
This time of year the food pantry gets low on items. The majority of our senior citizens benefiting from the food pantry live alone. Regular sized cans are preferred over the larger bulk ones. Also low sugar and low salt fruits and vegetables are preferred. The following items are greatly appreciated:
Hash |
Chili |
Baked Beans |
Boxed Mac and Cheese |
Chunky Soups |
Spaghetti and Sauce |
Canned fruits and veggies (the food pantry has a log of corn and green beans at this time |
peanut butter and Jelly |
coffee |
cereal (any brand/generic) |
The Women's Club of East Granby also donates traditional items for Thanksgiving Baskets. For these baskets, we usually like to collect:
stuffing |
fruit pie fillings |
boxed potatoes |
canned yams |
corn |
Anything you like to eat is what others will want to eat! It's a terrific feeling to contribute to something as important as feeding our friends and neighbors. Please give generously
